A quick glance at Research Ethics requirements

Whether your research is within the (bio)medical, engineering, sciences, humanities or social sciences field, it has an impact on society. It is important to be aware of that impact and reflect on how to reduce the negative parts guided by ethics and legislation. This lecture will guide you through the existing ethical legislation, regulations and committees:

-          Does your research need ethics approval?

-          To which ethics committee do you have to submit your research?

-          What will the committee verify?

What is Research Integrity?

With the new European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity of ‘ALL European Academies’ (ALLEA), new guidelines in good research practices at a European level are in place. We will provide you with basic knowledge on good research practices, important VUB regulations and proceedings in case of research misconduct and examples of cases on plagiarism, falsification, fabrication or questionable research practices.
