VUB African student ambassadors meeting with the Rector

The African Student Community on the 17th May 2017 organized a meeting with the VUB rector, Prof. Caroline Pauwels. This meeting was attended by fifteen African students from various African countries. The main idea is to create a platform for African students to share reflections about their studies and an opportunity for African students to become active players on campus life.

During the meeting, they shared ideas on further study prospects including doing Masters and PhD, and upon completion of their programs to serve as Ambassadors by exploring further collaboration with their respective African universities and the VUB.

The meeting was held in an all participatory platform and the rector warmly received the group and challenged them to organize themselves, take their studies seriously and be ready to shape the continent’s future.

We are most grateful for the opportunity and we look forward to working together as proud members of the VUB community. We wish to also recognize the role of the International Students’ Platform (ISP) in this endeavor.

The group will come up with projects in due course. Also, since May 25 is generally recognized as Africa Liberation Day, the group will organize an open barbecue on that day (on campus)  from 6pm onwards. Come join the community and get to know each other!
