Cast your support for VUB’er Ahmadreza Djalali

Rally for Ahmad Reza Djalali and Hamid Babaei outside of the Iranian embassy on the occasion of the Iranian New Year!

When: Tuesday, 21 March - from 12:00 to 14:00

On Tuesday 21 March Amnesty activists and the Iranian diaspora will assemble in front of the Iranian embassy on the day of Nowrouz, the ancient Persian New Year's celebration. The aim is to express our support for all Iranian prisoners who did not receive a fair trial and were often imprisoned based on fallacies. This includes VUB Professor Ahmad Reza Djalali whose health has recently seriously deteriorated whilst being captive in the Erin prison, as well as Hamid Babaei, a student at the University of Liège, who was imprisoned after refusing to spy on fellow students, and Narges Mohammadi, a human rights activist imprisoned in Iran.

We want to reinforce to the Iranian authorities our aim that we will not give up the fight for prisoners incarcerated by unfair trials in Iran. Ahmad Reza Hamid, Narges, and many others cannot celebrate Nowrouz with their loved ones and family. Time for justice!

Practical:

  • From 12:00 to 14:00 in front of the Iranian embassy, Franklin Rooseveltlaan 15, 1050 Brussel
  • The Iranian diaspora invites everyone to grab a bite together in celebration of Nowrouz and will welcome us with traditional pastries and drinks. Everyone welcome, please provide own lunch.
  • Public supporters will be informed about the status of the various prisoners, and Iranian musicians will perform traditional music.
